Glen Rose

my family reunion was here and i seem to remember that there was a really cool old downtown area around the town square, well if you like old buildings, which i do, its interesting. but i might be getting it confused with another town in the area, dont think i am though. oh, and dinosaur state park was awesome!! lots of dinosaur tracks that i thought were pretty well preserved. here i am talking about it like i know…whatever, it was still a cool old texas town, and ive seen a lot of those. wish i had more pictures.

This is a drive thru animal refuge way out in the middle of nowhere (Glen Rose, Texas). It has the best White and Black Rhino, and Cheetah breeding history in the US and is actually a really cool place to visit. The animals are in wide open spaces and often close enough for you to see easily from your car. The caretakers take the health and comfort of the animals seriously and your money paid to get into the place is well spent. I’d recommend going during the spring for baby season when most animals tend to give birth. You’ll see Tons of baby animals of various kinds. There is a behind the scenes tour you can go on too that allows you to see a lot of animals that are not on exhibit due to the need for privacy to breed – like the Black Rhinos, Cheetahs, and Maned Wolves. Seeing these animals in a way that doesn’t stress them out and getting to ask lots of questions of someone who works with them is priceless.

I would suggest not visiting during the summer months. Glen Rose is a nice place, but the summers are too hot and humid.
