Worth visiting!

The base is very nice and the scenery is beautiful.
My husband is in the AF and stationed here and so far we both liked the base, even though his job here is completely different than everything he has done for the AF before and in its own way very stressful and time consuming.
I am german and we’re just working on my ‘adjustment of status’ and I have to say, so far I haven’t met any predjudiced people around here. Everybody is very nice and friendly to me and always willing to help.
There are definetely worse places to be stationed at.

If you’re in the USAF, and are coming here, do an about-face and start marchin’! The base itself is nice, scenic and spread-out. It’s not a bad base, it’s the people within (higher supervision), that make it horrible. Why? Most of the crusty higher-ups are here to retire. So, you can expect them to pull their final-push to do something spectacular before they leave- AT YOUR EXPENSE. Plus, this base is notorious for micro-managing. I can make one guarantee to all the new airmen coming here- you won’t hear this comment just once. ”...don’t judge your Air Force career off of this base.” Sad, isn’t it? However, the one good thing to come out of this horror, is that your associates will most likely pull together to make this a somewhat tolerable tour- they’re going through the same thing you are. Little-known fact: up until the late 80’s/early 90’s, if you were an airman of color, you could refuse this base, due to all of the racism in the surrounding areas, and the USAF would have to respect your demands. I personally haven’t experienced it, but I’ve seen my African-American friends get pulled over 2-3 times in one day, near the Salt Lake Area, for “no apparent reason” (racial profiling at its best).
