Altdorf

What a wonderful and quaint village. Just 20 minutes south of Stuttgart surrounded by the Schoenbuch forrest, picturesque in every since of the word. Old houses, older Rathaus very big and famous church Evangelisch. The Wurm River runs through the town.
A wonderful place to travell through while visiting the surround areas of Holzgerlingen,Hildrizhausen and the University city of Tubingen. The road to Tubingen will take you past Bebenhausen, a very old monastery. Take a tour of the castle in Tubingen look upon the or ride a boat on the river. The atmosphere is romantic andd scholastic. Reminds me of University of California at Berkeley. The diversity is surprising. Very cosmopolitan.
I have been visiting the village of Altdorf for 14 years now because my husband is from there and his family has lived there since the 1500’s. The town has changed yet it remains the same. The faces have changed a lot, I have met lots of Americans passing through or living there in the military and many who have left the military but found it so nice they have stayed.
Many of the younger residents speak english. If you go in the summer try to make the BachFest held in the middle of town on Bach Strasse, use it as a stop point to travel to the Black Forest, Hohenzellern, Neu Schwanstein and many castles and fantastic architecture all around.
