Steeped in history, esp. marine and firepower. Also home to the oldest brewer in England, Shepherd Neame (1668). Superb range of pubs, lovely architecture, not High-Streetised like much of the UK, farmer’s market 3x a week. Home of the Hops!

I can’t believe that this place isn’t on the map! It is steeped in so much history – more medieval houses than York.
