Morning Run along the Hudson.. by Ursula Haigh

Stayed at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park & enjoyed a morning run along the Hudson River up to Canal Street. Later that day we took a Helicopter ride over Manhattan & the Statue of Liberty. What a different perspective!

A walk through NYC by cabinfever

Last December,a couple of days after Christmas, my husband and kids ages 18 and 14 took the train into NYC from LI where we were visiting family. We had tickets to see the Rockettes which proved to be very entertaining and quite seasonaly gratifying, even if the kids were somewhat less entertained. After, we had planned to visit Little Italy, my husband being totally Italian and the kids one-half. The day was beautiful so we decided to walk and once we were past the main shopping drag the crowds thinned out and we could walk unhindered. The buildings were like mountain ranges all outlined and shadowed in various designs as you looked up. We passed the Bowery and around here I think we found ourselves in the Battery Park which was so interesting. We continued and finally came to Little Italy where we ate in a restaurant where Tony Soprano had also eaten. It was superb and so was our day.

I lived here during my time as a contract nurse at St. Vincent's West Village by OBGypsyRN

Take the 1 or 2 straight up, or the M20. Gods, I love that bus!

Since my company was paying for my $3600/mo 1 broom apt, I didn’t care about the price all that much. Had the hubby and the fur babies (kitties) with me. the area loves animals. Less honking in this area too. &)()&^) honking when I’m trying to sleep for nightshift. I’d shoot a *)&%$ NYC Taxi driver if I could get my hands on a gun.

This is a hellhole. Dont even travel through here. I’ve lived here for two years under protest. Prices are going up, and even if there is a lot of space, all the cons outweigh the pros. In north Battery Park City, there are absolutely no stores, with the exception of two delis, and a duane reade. The school, I.S. 89, is horrible. They dont teach formally. In their mission statement, it reads “we feel the best way of education is to let the students teach themselves” It is a middle school. 11 and 12 year olds cant teach themselves pre-algebra. Its windy 24 hours a day. Not breezy, WINDY. This is no exaggeration. In the summer, staying in the sun becomes unbearable, in the winter, the biting cold is only exaggerated from thhe 30 mph winds. There is no personality to the area. Every building is the same. Think of it as the projects for rich white American express employees. This is the worst part of new york city. Hate to break it to you.
