Poy Sippi, WI 54967 by lametta
Poy Sippi is where I have lived for my entire life (excluding the fact that at the begining of this school year I’ve started living in Ripon, WI on the week days). It’s a small town (population: unincorporated), but it’s a nice place to raise children…not that I would know from experience, but I have enjoyed immensely growing up there. There are not really any attractions to speak of, but some of the resources in town are the diner (Barbara Jean’s Kitchen) and the restaurant (Reflections), Madell’s Lanes, the Country Rose Shops, Timm’s Hair Salon, and other places that are more normal, like the Amoco, the banks (we have two of them: Baylake Bank and First National), the grocery store (Reetz Meats), the fire station, a small handful of places of worshop, and, yes, the school. Poy Sippi Elementary School is where I found my education for kindergarten through fourth grade. Why the school did not expand to include the final elementary school grade, fifth, is beyond me (I especially labored over this fact two years ago when and addition was built to the school and room was not made for a fifth grade classroom, but instead for a multipurpose room and a new library, so the library and computer lab would not have to be combined any longer). The most exciting things that have happened in Poy Sippi, in my experience are 1) last year when I stayed home from school because I didn’t feel well, some man robbed the First National bank, and 2) when my friend Kristen and I were younger, we helped a teenage girl and her boyfriend as they tried to runaway from her father. Good times.
Verdict: Raise your kids here, then let ’em go out into the world. I myself have developed a serious urge to travel.
The picture is one I found in archive. Poy Sippi has been around since the 1800s, and this is what the log mill used to look like back then.
