Franklin Park Zoo

The gorilla exhibit is the best! Sometimes the gorillas will come right up to the glass to get a better look at the people.

It’s a typical zoo. It’s not spectacular, but I had a good time anyway. I thought it was poorly laid out, without an obvious sense of organization or flow to it. Since some of the animals are in large, open pens (which is good, they shouldn’t be cramped for space) it can be difficult to see all of them, but there was an ostrich right at the fence of his pen, so I got to see him really up close.

The best part of my trip was definitely the fruit bats exhibit. We came by just as they were being fed. Their food is essentially skewers of different types of fruits hanging from the ceiling. We had a blast watching them crawl all over each other and lick at their food (they don’t bite!)
