Trapani

I found out that the grand and great grandparents I never knew were from here. I would like to walk their walk for an idealic time.

Trapani is my second home. When I’m in Italy, I yearn to hear the beautiful Trapanese accent that reminds me of Nonna. I remember crying last time I was on the train from Naples to Palermo when some of the women in the same cabin were speaking Sicilian with a Trapanese accent…

these small islands are worth paying a visit: Isole Egadi, just after mid day the local fishermen come back and display their fish on the small harbour. Good chance this very same fish is on your plate that afternoon. Hire a cycle and just have a go around in the afternoon, enjoying the strange rectangular carvings in the ground. deep holes created by excavating the stone for use in the houses on the mainland of sicily.

N African inspired food, maybe a ferry to Tunisia! Vinegar and vegetables, arid coast, amazing. I want to go.
