i spent a six week stint here studying gaelic and other aspects of irish culture at glen columbekille on the northwest coast. teelin nearby has a great pub owned by members of the irish band altan. heart breaking to leave. i thouroughly enjoyed our day trip out tory island (which folklore links to the fir bolg giants and the british solar god lugh), where we visited an iron age fort. some of us wandered down to the devil’s pit (or something like that) a cave that opens to the atlantic. powerful waves crash up the sides of the rocks in the cave and echo all the way up the steep incline.

Donegal visits
I was christened in Churchill near Letterkenny and have been back to visit a number of times. I love the remoteness, the wet weather, the smell of peat, Errigal and the wild seas in winter.
