The Frick Museum is literally overshaded by the Met, but is a must for any art afficianado. The museum is actually the home and personal art collection of Steel Magnate Henry Clay Frick. The house is amazing and is right off Central Park. The remaining furniture is amazing as well. Some of the art was acquired by the foundation.

A great, unique museum. It’s housed in Frick’s mansion and all the pieces were chosen by him. The collection hasn’t changed much since Mr. Frick died. As a result, there’s no real theme to the art. Frick bought what he liked. The only theme is that Frick had a daughter who died young and he bought paintings of women who looked like his daughter would have. A very out of the ordinary, intriguing museum.over 7 years ago
