Spish castle is wonderful by Mirka

What can I say? I live here. Not in the castle actually but very close to it. I can see it from my window. I think it’s very beautiful. It is the largest medieval castle in central Europe.

They run a lot of performances of swordsmen or folk dancers in summer. I think that they’re there daily.

The movie ‘The Dragonheart’(1996) was filmed there and many other fimls.

You can go to Levoca from there. It’s a small historical town just 15km away. Or you can go hiking to High Tatras.

Bring a picnic lunch! by Zmrzlina

You must come in to the hrad from the south, around a mountain with hairpin turns. You will be treated to a view that will amaze. And when I was there in 2000, you could bring a picnic lunch and make a day at the hrad. Go for it! And then onto Levoca!

I’ll write more later. I’ve just discovered this part of 43Things

One of the UNESCO sites in Slovakia by ivan opalka

One of the most precious cultural monuments in the Slovakia is the Spiš Castle. I have visited numerous times since it’s conveniently located on the way from High Tatras to Presov or Kosice. There is a mineral water spring located on the side of the highway a few minutes from the castle if you wish to refresh yourself.
