Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 5 months ago

    Worth visiting!

& it was quite nice, actually! I had almost just as great as a time as I did when I went to the San Diego Zoo & my 3 year old son loved it! He especially loved seeing the alligators :) I’d definitely recommend seeing it at least once, if not more than that :D

Why I want to go to this place  — 5 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I’ve lived in Oregon for about a year now, and have never been. I’ve been pushing my fiancee to take me, but he thinks it’ll be just like any other zoo, which I detest :) I believe it will be awesome! I’ve heard so many great things about this zoo, and I can’t wait to check it out! :D I think I might just be more excited than my 3 year old on this one, lol!

Beautiful Zoo  — 6 months ago

    Worth visiting!

I have such wonderful memories of the Oregon Zoo. We would go frequently when I was a child and though I didn’t realize it at the time, I now see how thoroughly spoiled I was by it.

Unlike many zoos I’ve been to since, the Oregon Zoo has been designed to give the animals beautiful habitats. Not that the animals care, I’m sure, but it makes me feel better seeing the little penguins zip and slide around “glaciers”, or the lions lounging in their own little desert, chomping their steak dinners.

The surrounding Washington park is also lovely – green, fresh and potentially very romantic.

A rumor about this place  — 1 year ago

Heard it’s not all that great. There are enough other things to do in Portland that I won’t feel like I’m missing out.

The first time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

I was a little sad that there were no lions there and that the tiger was asleep (in true cat fashion) but the polar bear was awesome and the giraffe was adorable. And the birds rock!!

A Memory from one of the most memorable thoughtful dates I have had...so far  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

A gentleman took me on a thoughtful date to help me learn more of Oregon, and explore a number of events based on my particular interests, and the Portland Zoo was one place I hadn’t been to yet.

He was most thoughtful out of anyone I have ever been on a date with. It didnt have a chance to grow into anything more because at 39 he still has a desire to bear his own children of which I can no longer do, nor do I desire to have more.

Anyhow, I have some great pictures of these memories of some of the animals at the zoo too.

Like all zoos, it would have been nice if more animals were out and about but I can imagine it is tough being caged up and gawked at all the time.,..
