The zoo has a good setup that allows you to watch the penguins swim and you are close to them, unlike other displays that I have seen before. They also have a little kiddie train that takes you from stop to stop. I don’t know if its worth the ride because we had to backtrack to catch the train. It was a little fun though. The baby elephant was put out on display the day we were there. We also saw a baby giraffe. Parking was expensive— $10.00, but admission to the zoo is free. I believe the train was $5.00 a person. over 5 years agoUntitled by capnedThis is easily the best zoo I’ve ever been to, and it’s certainly the best zoo value for the dollar (the STL zoo has free admission). If you get a chance, go on a cool day in the middle of the week. The best trip to the zoo we ever had was one January 2nd that was in the upper 60’s. The animals were all out and about, and there were no tourists. over 5 years agoThe STL Zoo by Jordin MinnerThe zoo is pretty awesome! Maybe not as amazing as Chicago’s or San Diego’s, but for a mid-west spot it’s pleasing both aestheticly and humainly. The animals aren’t all caged up and don’t look miserable, they’re free for the most part. Depending on the weather, you can see pretty much every animal they have. The reptile hous is a must, as well as the primate house for places at the zoo you have to visit. Overall, it’s a pretty nice zoo. Maybe one of the best in the country. The only somewhat sucky thing about the place is there is a ton of walking involved…but since there are so many places to stop and eat or rest, it’s not that bad. over 6 years agoUntitled by underorionRainy days scare away the faint of heart, but cold weather is even better: a lot of critters are more active in chilly weather than summer heat, and the rest, well, they’re inside and so are you when you go to see them. Also, don’t eat the food. I worked at one of the concession stands a few years back. Really, truly, don’t eat the food. over 6 years agoSee all 20 entries |
