Lofoten Aquarium

Good exhibitions on second floor, but I agree with mrjorgen that many of the animals look like they would need bigger tanks. All in all a mixed experience.

Cheap entrance fee makes it worth checking out, though.

Situated in spectacular landscapian surroundings, the Lofoten Aquarium looks promising from the outside. You first animal encounter will be the sea otters having fun in an outside area. Once inside the main building, you will notice that quite a few of the fish at this aquarium are in fact a sad sight: Sores, signs of disease and scars from fighting or quarreling with other fish and a general «captive» look and behaviour. I’m no expert on aquariums, but my impression was that the tanks are to small for their inhabitants, which means the animals do not have a good time.
