Worth visiting!
pictographs and petroglyphs, memories of an ancient civilization
You will need to hire a guide to go here, it is a National Monument, and carefully protected.
You will travel down a very steep canyon wall, your guide can also provide you with a mule to carry your possessions, and maybe yourself, as well.
Please learn to speak Spanish, or at least give it a shot, before you go here. Our guide and I became friends during our week-long visit to this amazing place.
I simply cannot put into words the wonderment that comes from seeing this amazing site. There are pictographs and petroglyphs everywhere, and they’re all beautiful. I’m not a spiritual person, normally, but I felt pulled into history during this time.
One bad thing:
Ladies, be careful of the brackish waters that pool on the canyon floor. I ran my hands through them, and now have a permanent fine web-like etching of silicon leavings inscribed on the backs of my hands.
