I regularly visit the Jive Time on Capitol Hill which is always like going home for me. Its so pleasant and I have amazing records that I’ve found there. Before Jive Time I had a measly handful of my Mother’s records, and now I’ve climbed to quite a large collection. It makes me quite happy. I wear my Jive Time shirt with pride.

This place opened in mid 2002, I believe? http://www.jivetimerecords.com
Anyway, living in Fremont and being a collector of vinyl, it’s a financially dangerous situation. I can come home from work on any given night, get off the bus, walk up the hill to say hi to friends who work there and see a record along the lines of, say, Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music or Public Image Limited’s Metal Box for sale.. usually at a price just below eBay standards—not cheap, but not completely unreasonable. And it sits there on the wall racks.. staring at me.. going, “You will never see me again, unless you buy me now.” I fall for it every time.
I might make a fortune in a decade or so, if I decide to later sell these off—but I enjoy listening to them now, and it keeps me from buying other things like, you know, a house, a laptop, a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese, etc. It’s a hard life being addicted to vinyl, but what a life, WOOHOO!
