Sculpting In Time Cafe

I spent two months studying Chinese culture at BeiWai, just around the corner. Heaven knows I love Chinese food, but sometimes a girl just needs something good and Western. So once you start thinking that you will throw something if you have to eat rice one more time (it happened to me a couple of times), this place is a treat. The atmosphere is great; there are lots of books and arty movie posters around.

The food is a little pricey by Chinese standards, but not for the West. And while the Chinese versions of some Western food are, well, not good, these are. I went back to Beijing last summer, and I was so excited that S.I.T. was still around and I could have my old standby grilled cheese sandwich and minestrone soup.

Nice escape from the hustle-bustle of Beijing.

A Coffee? A fruitshake? Sustenance i.e. food? FREE INTERNET???
I loved this cafe to bits when I was studying Mandarin in Beijing, I even bought a notebook with the name of the cafe inscribed on it. It’s the ultimate place to crash with a bunch of friends (sans l’alcool) and talk or just work. It has this incredibly zen atmosphere without nudists or hairy vegetables, and there are bookshelves in the back if you get bored. If you get a spot by the window you stare down at all the crazy people on the streets, and there’s a 24 hour massage parlour literally like right next door to the cafe which you can visit once the cafe closes (midnight).
