Hood River

After being away from Hood River for about 7 years, I finally got to see it again this year.

I really wanted to move there, but when I came back and saw it again, the town seemed to have changed a lot. It seems a lot more plastic and commercial than it was when I first lived there.

It’s still rather charming and the scenary surrounding Hood River is still amazing. However, the town itself is not what it used to be, and I feel rather dissapointed. I like places with character and grit. This is too polished and seems to be crawling with rich playboys and old people.

i love food, dripping off my chin , having to use napkins, wearing nice clothes, going in my sandals, it doesn;t matter!

We took a day trip along the Gorge and spent most of the day in Hood River. What a great place! A small-town feel and a downtown that has retained it’s character and hasn’t sold out to the big box stores. It is a dream destination for outdoor peeps who like to hike, bike, kayak, windsurf, etc. etc.
Dinner at Celilo was as good as any big city has to offer, and the latte at Doppio hadn’t been rivaled since I was in Europe!

This town is one that I have experienced some of the most significant changes in my life. I was proposed to here, betrayed here and found my dreams in.

I love Hood River and miss it like crazy.

Hood River is the world’s capital of Wind Surfing. Not to mention it’s location right below Mount Hood for winter sports. The area is an amazingly beautiful area. Did you know 80% of pears come from here. I compare Hood River to an up and coming Ski Type town. Hopefully it doesn’t get over run with Richies like and Aspen type town.
