Devonport

Devonport is a suburb of Auckland, just 15 minutes away by ferry. I only had a couple of hours here, which I spent having breakfast (delicious blueberry pancakes) at a local cafe, and then walking up Mount Victoria (a dormant volcano).

The road is quite steep in places – be warned! You get spectacular views of the city skyline as a reward though.

If I’d had more time, I’d have walked out to North Head (a headland in the opposite direction to Mount Victoria) for more great views. The local tourist information office had some helpful maps marked with walking trails.
