Outstanding!

If you are planning to go to South Africa, you must consider spending at least one day in Gansbaai to dive with white sharks. It is 2 hours driving from Cape Town and another 1 hour in a boat to the Shark Valley. At first it seems to be scary. And, believe me, it is. But, after waiting about 1 hour for white sharks attracted by huge pieces of tuna, you will agree that they are only fishes. :)
In a cage you can be near them, while the sailboat guy attract them. It’s not necessary to have dive certificate because you will be wearing dive mask, only.
This trip average costs R 1500, which means about USD 140, including breakfast, lunch, snacks and all equipments necessary to dive.
Don’t forget to have medicine if you use to feel sick in boat trips.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

One of the best places to get up close and personal with Carcharodon carcharias (great white shark). Make sure you watch JAWS before you get in the boat.

Encounter whales and sharks at Gansbaai

Gansbaai is a beautiful village next to Hermanus. It is cheaper to stay and more tranquil than Hermanus. In Gansbaai it is possible to do some shark/cage diving or just do a charter on a boat and watch the whales and sharkes from up close. It is also possible that you meet some seals of dolphins along the way.

Need any tips for overnight stay in the Overberg / Gansbaai area; let me know!
