Charlotte Douglas International Airport

Light and airy with plenty of shops and places to eat. They have rocking chairs lining the main concourse. Nice touch.

So I almost got lost here during my layover, but it’s a nice airport.

after you get off of the plane, you might as well get something to eat, as the baggage takes forever to arrive at the claim.

I’m recommending this as much as anyone can actually recommend an airport. I’ve spent a lot of time here waiting for connecting flights to various places and it’s spacious, easy to navigate and has some convenient places to eat and drink while you wait.

A few weeks ago I had a 7 hour layover when I was connecting flights to Munich. Oddly enough it didn’t seem that long. There were enough shops and resturaunts to distract me, and the people were friendly too.

Best damned mobile of the history of flight ever. And probably the only! Also… they have rocking chairs in the concourses!

In 1996, I missed my connecting flight to Virginia the night before my sister’s graduation. I couldn’t rent a car because I wasn’t yet 25. But two people at the car rental counter offered to drive me up to Blacksburg! One of the nicest, most unexpected things strangers have ever done for me, and just when I needed it.
