If the chocolate, ice cream, steak, trout and pizza don’t do it for you, maybe the rock climbing, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, parasailing, rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, sailing and kayaking will.
The city itself isn’t exciting as a city – although it does have decadent deserts, unbelievable scenary, killer night-life (blues at 5am anyone?) and friendly, talktative locals. Some people are turned off from Bariloche becuase it’s the high-school senior trip destination for almost the entire countyr, and many parts of Brazil.
The trick is to go in December or late February and get out as much as possible – there’s so much to do you could spend a lifetime and only see half of it.
After living there for two years and being back multiple times since, it’s one of my favorite places on the planet.
