Worth visiting!
Almost the end of the world
The easternmost city in the US. On a small island, in the Passamaquoddy Bay, Eastport is a deep sea port, with about two thousand people living there. The locals live off the water, with lobstering, scalloping, clamdigging, wrinkling (for those small snails), salmon, and any other kind of seafood you can think of. It is a charming small town, the locals are a bit fierce, the Irish type. Lots of old buildings, founded well over 200 years ago, and the Passamaquoddy Indians have lived there for thousands of years, their reservation is nearby. Eastport was a bustling sardine factory city in the 1800s, it had way more people then, and when they fished out all the sardines, all the people died off or moved away, leaving a giant old cemetery on the island. Now a lot of rich out-of-towners from New York and such are investing in properties there, buying up the homes and businesses, making the prices higher than ever. Great small town, I grew up there, but was glad to move away once I hit 18—it is a hard life there, but wonderful to visit.
