This place is the shiznit by gorillamanda

Concerts are great here because the stage is SO close! It’s like a club pretty much.. everyone’s close together and there’s an upstairs where you can sit and eat.

I thought it was amazing my first time there because I could see the band so close. We were about 10 feet from the band! Definately go here if you have a chance, especially if one of your favorite bands are playing here. And plus, the tickets are usually cheap. Usually.

I do not care that the Doors started here, frankly by NedRaggett

I just go for the shows, though it’s been a few years in my case — in fact, I’m trying to remember WHAT the last show I saw here was. I think my favorite show here that nobody remembers unless you were actually there was the New Fast Automatic Daffodils in 1991 — they had the entire place dancing for the full set, which if you know LA crowds can be a rarity…

I went to the Whiskey a lot when I was in high school and college. It wasn’t much of a destination itself, but they had good bands there. I remember seeing the Dead Kennedy’s, 20/20, and Stiff Little Fingers. I didn’t even know that it’s still open.

A small piece of music history... by QueenoftheHighway

Okay, The Whisky is small, dark, and before the recent renovations, kinda grungy. It’s nicer now. My friend’s band plays here every few months, and it would be worth going if you want to see the band; probably not if you don’t care about the band. It’s a good small venue. Also, you can use the tiny bathroom that Jim Morrison often passed out in- the Doors were the house band here until they got fired because Morrison was too profane.
