Memories

I have played a few shows here. The last time I was actually here was after I evacuated Katrina in 2005. There was a benefit going on and I remember seeing a lot of people I had not seen in a long time. I also used to work in the diner for a few months in 2002. This place has shows a lot. For a while they were all screamo bands. I’m not sure what genres are represented now. I saw Cex here in 2002 and I opened for Parts and Labor in 2003. That was a lot of fun. I need to check in and see what’s going on. I always run into people I haven’t seen in forever when I go.

Soundstage was ok. I saw a Squint there (a band which I really like) so it was awesome. Of course, the sound system sucks—a giant auditorium with blaring sound pretty much sums it up. It’s a great place to go with friends though. Of course, there’s always the risk of a mosh pit starting up…but some would argue that that’s the best part.

516 is a great place for music

“The Congregation” with Kirk Copeland is great, it happens weekly (I think on Wed or Thurs). There are poetry readings, open mic nights, dining, amd lots of drinking at the 516 Soundstage. The pic is a buddy Cameron Meshell who is currently living and working in Los Angeles with professonal musicians. This guy is great, keep your eyes open for him!

A really nice venue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Attached to a diner for full food service along with the music.
