Forgot my leftovers! by MFM

Today I finally had breakfast at Franks. We got there around 9 and there were 2 parties of 2 and 4 ahead of us. I figured that meant 10 minutes but we wanted a booth so a bunch of people were seated at the counter – which seems to move faster than the booths – before we got our table.

Once we sat down, M & W both ordered Bloody Marys which came decorated with celery salt and a pickle. We shared an order of French toast made with homemade bread – great way to start.

Frank’s is famous for garbage plates – a mess of hash browns, eggs, peppers, onions and whatever meats, veggies and cheese you want. I had a HALF garbage with bacon, sausage and cheddar cheese and I could not even eat half of that.

The people working there are funny and loud. One guy called everyone baby and honey and teased everyone. When we came in and said “party of 3” he said “sucks to be you”. But even if they were gruff, the service was excellent and fast. This same guy gave me his Sunday paper so I could do the crossword!

What a bummer to discover that I left my half a half garbage plate in my friends’ fridge!!

Be Nice Or Leave is posted on the wall by MFM

Yesterday we drove to Kenosha specifically for breakfast at Franks and were shocked to find no line. There was no line because they are closed for renovations every year the week after Labor Day! We met Mikey – a guy who works there – who chatted with us and directed us to a substitute place – The Coffee Pot and told us to ask fro Julie.

a review of Frank's Diner by Bill is in Washington, DC: Land of Opportunity, even for the ethical

this is a very charming place and it lives up to the hyperbole of the “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” television show: good food in generous portions and a sassy attitude. “If you’re in a hurry, or it’s too crowded, why don’t you come back a different day?”

and the motto “Order what you want, eat what we serve you” says a lot about the good time I had here with my son
