Mentor, Ohio is ranked at # 68 of the best cities in 2006 to live in according to CNN Money.com

It’s where I was raised so I can attest to the solid schools and education programs, as well as the low crime rate and affordable housing.

Just the climate isn’t the best… but the summers are good. Especially at Headlands Beach… while there you gotta see the sand dunes. Winters aren’t so good. It gets dark around 4:45 pm with lots of rain/snow mixed with gusty winds off of Lake Erie. BBBbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Then there’s the slush. In February one hardly sees the sun at all… the most dreary of months.

Mentor is pronounced with a “flat” t = menner is how the locals say it.

I do go back regularly, however, to visit family and friends.

Make sure to visit Mentor Headlands Beach Park. During the Summertime it is a beautiful site. Big area of sand before you get to Lake Erie with little areas for picnics and volleyball.

lots of shopping! there’s got to be at least one of every store you’ve ever heard of up here. there’s just strip mall after strip mall- the people are pretty friendly and there’s some of the lowest gas prices of the region. yay!!
