News about this place

Well, let me tell all of you people who are wondering what manchester is like outside of bonarroo- it is completely like any other small town. Aside from that wonderful week in the year, there is nothing miraculously special about this place. Of course, I have lived here for four years now and I’m sure anyone would say the same. But basically, Walmart is our mall. Everyone I know is there All the time. It’s almost ‘the place to be.’ The people here are seemingly normal. (Pretty scary, I know) Unfortunately, we don’t have the melting pot of people that we do when Bonarroo comes around. It really does blow my mind why they would have Bonarroo in nowhere Tennessee, but I suppose that is just one of those unanswerable questions in life

Worth visiting!

Just like 80,000 others....

I’ve been here three times and yet have never seen the town proper. Can’t really say how it is the other 362 days of the year, but the three days or so a year Bonnaroo is in town it’s the best place on earth. ^_

Introduction to Manchester by FROMMER'S November 20, 2006 One of the largest cities in England, Manchester is becoming increasingly important, as major airlines now fly here from North America, making the city a gateway to northern England. In recent years, Manchester has made great strides to shake its image as an industrial wasteland. Though chimneys still spike the skyline, they no longer make the metropolitan sky an ash-filled canopy. Abandoned warehouses are being renovated to provide sleek new loft apartments for yuppies. Rustic factory equipment turns up in museums rather than piling up in salvage yards. Even the old Victorian architecture has been given a face-lift. The overall effect is a gritty kind of charm. Manchester's roots date from A.D. 79, when the Romans settled here. It remained under Roman occupation until A.D. 410 when the empire began its storied fall. The west gate has since been reconstructed upon its original site. Little is known of Manchester's Middle Ages. (read article)
