I haven’t made it to Chez Panisse yet, but I did go to Bay Wolf with my sweetie and a friend the other night. Heavenly. Wonderful, interesting menu. I was attracted by the fish, and several of the small plates, but went with the bouguignone. Really sweet, really tender. And a nice glass of zinfandel to go with it.

Chez Panisse was everything I imagined it to be: warm, inviting, and serving the greatest food I have ever eaten. It is a life experience not to be missed.

P.S. I suppose it can be seen as a tad costly but not for the value of what you get and the experience and life enrichment that occurs. We didn’t hold back: wine, appetizers, main courses, desserts and dessert wines, coffee. With the gratuity it was about $180 for 2 people, really not bad for the second best restaurant in the United States.

Fantastic by sistinas

I ate lunch at the cafe about a month before moving out of the Bay Area and I have serious regrets about not trying it sooner. Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere, and amazing food. The lunch menu seems a bit cheaper than the dinner menu – I scraped out of there paying about $30 for an appetizer, an entree, and half a dessert.

It took me almost 28 years, plus having moved out of state and been gone for 10 years, to finally come back and get to eat here. Worth the wait.
