Very cool by Waterfall Nymph

The building is very well designed – as a piece of architectural but also functionally. I really liked the layout and the gardens too.

DO NOTMISS the Andy Goldsworthy piece in the entryway. Much fun is to be had following the crack.

Untitled by amberengle

I had visited the museum about 9 years ago so was shocked when I went in today to find it nothing like I remembered. It was really wonderful to see art in its many forms. Personally, I loved the Walker Evans and Dorthea Lange Photographs as well as the room devoted to the “Hudson River School”. Also I got a kick out of the oversized safety pin.

The picture I took is entitled “self portrait”

magical, rainy visit this past weekend by Daniel Spils

I walked here with friends after a pancake breakfast. Overwhelmed by carbs and the design of this place, I had one of those “moments” where I just loved every minute of being in the new de Young museum. The observation tower offers stunning, unobstructed views of the city and park. The rain started while we were in the tower and we walked out to the damp smell of concrete and eucalyptus trees. Amazing.

Everyone says that they love the outside, but are not impressed by the inside. We’ll see about that.
