Carol Stream
Worth visiting!
The Best of the Midwest!
I’ve lived in Carol Stream my whole life, and though it may not have a “shtick” like other surrounding suburbs, it is a great place to spend time. It’s diverse, humble, and warm. It’s a place where people care more about eachother and their children than their mercedes. It think Carol Stream’s “culture” is that is has no dominant one, which I think is a good thing in a society that claims to value diversity more and more. I’m glad I grew up in Carol Stream!

A review of this place
Well, yes, Carol Stream seems to be rather nondescript suburbia. But surely most places are worth visiting. A lot of my mother’s relatives now live here, so it is worth visiting for me.
For other people, I dunno if I would go out of my way to come here. OK, I wouldn’t myself normally. There are better places to go, like, say, Chicago itself. I am in Carol Stream right now, and at the moment, I am at a loss for what to do. Maybe I’ll take a nap.

Stayed here a few years
Carol Stream always struck me as a slightly dodgy town, but then I grew up in the very safe and proper Wheaton next door, and when I was living in Carol Stream I lived in a low-income area that had crime.
Some parts don’t seem too bad; they’re more of the new middle class type with cheap new apartments and houses going up, and some development and the like.
The library sucks, and is tiny.
Overall, I think Carol Stream is just a town that grew up between other Chicago suburbs…I never felt any “culture” about it. I don’t even know where the down town area is, if there is one. It’s just full of people who seem to have ended up there because the housing was a bit cheaper than the surrounding areas.
