How this place changed my life
White sandy beaches, lit by the full moon..
Locals willing to swap gorgeous hand-carved ornaments for a pair of my white socks.. :)
THE BEST Chinese take-out i’ve ever had in my life.. (?)
Devestating culture shock of seeing children, no more than 8 years old, sniffing glue by the side of the main roads..
Shacks, mud-huts, markets..
Some of my life’s most memorable images come from this beautiful destination.
A real taste of Africa. :)
Though i still wonder about the “Asian Authority”.

A tip I have about this place
Mombasa has beautiful beaches and a lot of recreational things to do. I spent my time at a resort on the beach but have heard that going into town is not recommended. Also, choose a resort that has a private beach or you may be bombarded with local salesmen wanting to sell you whatever they have made. It’s a lot easier to go to a market to buy these items and spend your time on the beach relaxing.

My Mother has lived here for 16 years. When she was 40 or so, she had what we call “a midlife crisis to admire”, divorced my Dad and moved to Kenya. After living in Nanyuki for several years, she headed to the coast and has lived all around the Mombasa area.

The best beach in Kenya.
When I was child, I lived in Nairobi, Kenya and I went often to the Mombassa beach on the east coast of Kenya. In Kenya, we can do a lot of things. The most touristic are the safari, the handcraft markets and the Indian Ocean. Mombassa is the most recommended beach of Kenya, because of the big number of activities we can practice there. Like aquatic sports, scuba diving, pedalo, surfing and a hundred of other things. There, I have also eaten the best seafood of the world in a restaurant called Tamarind. NOw that I have given you an idea of what you can do in Mombassa,it is your turn to discover and enjoy it!
