Ovalau

I love this island! Spend a few days here if you get a chance. A week would be even better. They have a wonderful celebration on Fiji Day each year, if you’re in Levuka you can see how the former capital of Fiji commemorates this day and make some friends along the way. Levuka Homestay is a great place to stay in Levuka.

i lived on Ovalau for seven months, a school teacher in a small village school – if you’ve been to Ovalau, you know where the airstrip is? the village next to it. it changed my life.
that sounds extreme and sentimental but it’s true. it was hard. no electricity, no clean water, high humidity and temperatures, but wonderful kids. i want to go back…but will that ruin it for me>?
