We used to stop at...

the ZIP-IN for a twisty cone & to strech our legs before continuing on Hwy 2 to Kalispell to see relatives. We haven’t been back for about 10 years. Our neighbor wrote a book on the Asbesto Scandal & the W R Grace Co. I don’t imagine I’ll be spending much time in Libby again. The drive along Hwy 37 North to Eureka is Beautiful! You follow the Koocanusa river. Keep a look out for the eagle’s nests.

A review of this place: Living the Dream!

My husband and I have lived in Texas all of our lives. We dreamed of moving to the mountains after retirement. However, after vacationing thru Yellowstone & Glacier National Parks we decided “Why Wait?” We have been in Montana for one year and don’t regret a single day. It is absolutely beautiful and the people are very friendly. We prefer the northwestern part of the state. Even though it gets hotter than I thought it would here, there is no humidity. We love the mountains & wildlife. It has been good for our family to return to a simpler way of life.

Its OK.

My dad was born here; my grandfather was a sheriff here; the movie “Always”, with Richard Dreyfus, Holly Hunter, and John Goodman was filmed here; I think a movie with Meryl Streep about river rafting was partly filmed here; W.R.Grace had a huge zonolite mine here that has leached asbestos all over the area; and they’re below the dam so if it ever goes so goes Libby.

Wild animals beyond your wildest imagination!

Libby is probably the most remote place in the lower 48 states where it has almost 90% of the land forest service and Wilderness. If you know where to look (ask the nice people at the Caboose Motel) for such animals as Bears, Moose, Deer, Elk, Couger, Badger and a whole lot of other wild animals you can take some great pictures and memories back home. I am positive this part of Montana is the one last undiscovered area as most tourists flock east to Glacier National Park (very nice) and do not take in the amazing things located around the Libby, Montana area. Two places you can check to find out more about libby and the wilderness. http://mtwilderness.com and http://libbymt.com.

Kootenai River Country

What a beautiful town. Lakes, streams, rivers, vast mountain ranges. A paradise for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Come to Libby and fish, hunt, ski, snowmobile, hike, sightsee, horseback riding, or just sit in the National Forest and take in the sights and sounds of Mother Nature. A destination everyone should have on their list of places to visit.
