I passed through the town of Bendigo in 2006 for a short period of time on a trip through central Victoria. The town of Bendigo is described as the centrepiece of Victoria and is a vibrant place where you can absorb many different forms of local and historical art. There is so much variety in the culture, food, and wine available to experience and heritage experiences are rich. Large impressive timeless Victorian buildings stand proud along many of Bendigos wide sweeping streets. They are remanants well preserved of part of the rich history engrained in Bendigo. This town emerged from one of the world’s most exciting gold rushes and it is recorded that more gold was found here between 1850 and 1900 than anywhere else in the world. The city of Bendigo was built on the back of this gold and the impressive buildings and grand monuments and parks stand along wide streets as a constant, lasting, and defining reminder of this rich heritage. There are still many treasures to discover in Bendigo and if you are interested in Australian History this is a fantastic interesting place to go and well worth the visit. EnJoY LoVe eLLe xxx
