Jaques Cousteau ate here
That was one of the things that Peter was most proud to tell people, before he passed away a couple of years ago. I last saw him in 2000, the millinium, and he was so happy about things were going. I am sure he still is, because his son, Jose, was there, ready to continue his legacy. I first met Peter in ‘79, on my first transatlantic sailing trip. I met him 3 more times, either sailing, or just visiting, because I love the place so much. He was always the most gracious host, friend to all sailors, good businessman, and a real legend in the sailing world. I still have a t-shirt, a pen, but no photos. Go there, the Marina Bar was one of his ventures, and now Jose’s, so patronize these places in the memory of a great man who made Horta a modern day haven for sailors and tourists. Om Shanti, Peter.
