Troy

Turkey is a land of history. It is the land where coined money was invented, along with dice. It is the land of the Hitites and iron smelting. It is the land of Parchment, Phrygians, Palaces, and Turks. And it is the land of Troy, the centerpiece of of a war involving 1,000 ships, sons of Gods, unmatched beauty, and a horse. I found myself in Turkey with a group of people who decided that Troy was not as cool to see as Galipoli? This is were I stood up and convinced them to give me at least a short time at Troy so I could look out on the land surround its strong hold like Priam had done so long ago. Luckily for me, Troy is a short drive off of the main road heading south to Assos. Troy was discribed to me as being a hill with holes in it. It is much more. It is a historically spiritual place, where the ghost of the heroes of the past continue in the eternal struggle to maintain their honor and secure the love of a woman.

I’m taking a class on whether the Trojan War was history or myth. I kind of feel like if I were standing there, even if I couldn’t see anything, I’d have to say history.
