Caprivi Strip

Just across the Botswana border and through an amazingly densely populated game park, the Caprivi Strip in Namibia draws a fun party crowd in a laid back atmosphere.

You gotta be sure you hit the guava bar- ack, at the camp whose name I forget at the moment. They also have a “pool” for the brave here- it’s a wire-framed cage floating via pontoons at the perimeter. I saw it’s for the brave because it floats in the Kavango River- where there are hippos and crocs!

The hippos are there- they woke me one night make their magically grunting noises just outside our bamboo hut. Yeah, I didn’t sleep any more that night. And the reisdent dog was missing one of its back legs- got caught by a croc! So the critters are alive and well here.

I gotta look up the name of this place- all the locals pass through here!
