Melaque

A lovely small town on the beach. Population 10,000? The area is called Costa Alegre (Happy Coast). A real home-town feeling, in a paradisical setting, on Bahia de Navidad (Christmas Bay). Stroll the streets, visit with everyone you meet, shop in the local markets (the fruits and veggies are awesome), eat at the sidewalk cafes (Mexican style—a table pulled out on the street, where you get real, home-cooked, meals). Walk around the town square on Sunday evening, where everyone meets, and watch the local kids do the “paseo”. Very cute. Take a 45 minute drive to Tenacatita Bay for snorkeling in “the aquarium”.
