Not that bad after all
I came back here to hang out with my family. I have had fond memories of this city as a child when my family would support my dad in his glider flying adventures.
This city is still small town USA, but it’s got stuff to offer. We stayed overnight at the Oasis Campground, which has always been loads of fun. Of course we went to the airport to see all the gliders.
On the way to the airport we say Ephrata’s newest addition to the town: Katana Industries, Inc. (A electric windmill manufacturing center) The size of these windmills are just enormous! This is great that Washington state is actively creating an economy in greener power sources.
And not to miss out on the Ephrata, we all stopped at D.K.’s Drive in for some ice cream. This city isn’t bad at all for being in the middle of nowhere and for being kinda small.

Bigots, or at least one...
A while back I watched “Pearl Harbour” or whatever that movie was. I saw it in a theater (the only theater) in Ephrata. Now during the fist few scenes, there is this little kid in the movie who makes fun of this other dude by calling him a “dirty German”.
Directly in front of me there was this old lady with gray hair that GASPED like she heard the worst profanity EVER when she heard the kid say that saying in the movie. Now, I dunno, but that woman has some issues in my humble opinion.
I’ve heard that in Russia there are still some cities that think the Czars rule their country. In Ephrata I’ll bet you could still find some people who think we’re back in the 1940s. Back in the day Ephrata had a bustling air force base, but since then cropdusters and a mint factory have taken the places of the aircraft hangars.
In addition to that there is a yearly Glider tournament which my Dad will be competing in and I shall be attending it. Stay tuned for some pictures and new places being added to Ephrata!

I live here, unfortunately...
Actually, its pretty cool, if you like small towns. It is right next door to Soap Lake, which hosts an annual Hog Show, and also has an insanely huge lava lamp, which is cheesey but fun.
Ephrata itself is big on parades, very patriotic, and incredibly centered around family and religion. They seem to have more churches than stores, and going by the old adage that you can tell how good or bad a town is by its highest building: church or commercial building, I guess Ephrata is good.
