How this place changed my life

This is my home town, the place I was born and grew up. For the outsider this may not seem great. But for me, it is a place which shaped me to who I am now.
It has all the gifts of nature, a beautiful ocean, nice people who are very frank, lot of fresh fish, salt fields, schools, colleges and everything you would basically need to live life without too much complexity.
You’d be surprised that just like the tall Palm trees that you find here, people who live here are also tall and dark.
It is a wonderful place to live in.

Why I want to go to this place

Thoothukudi is my hometown. I have born here. I feel very much proud to be a citizen of the thoothukudi by birth.

Basically, thoothukudi is an industrial city. Its industrial characterization is due to its natural port. This is the main reason for a city to be an industrial city in the south of tamilnadu.

After the completion of Sedhu canal project, the thoothukudi will be the hub for international trading in south india.

Thoothukudi is famous for many food items. Its traditional Macroon, then the Poricha parotta. It is the second largest saltpan of the nation after gujarat.

Water scarcity is the major attenuation in the developement of the city of Thoothukudi. Due to the Sterlite, the average rainfall range became poor. Even though the thoothukudi peoples suffers from the sterlite, there is no marketing for the sterlite copper in thoothukudi or even in tamilnadu.

With such a big problems, the Thoothukudi city is still shining.

Pearl City

Thoothukudi is my hometown, affectionately called the Pearl City. The Anglicised version is Tuticorin. Here is the entry on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoothukudi and here is a site run by some of my friends http://www.muthunagar.com/index1.htm. These two tell you the story. How can I forget the charming beach, the tasty muttai parottas and saalna, the captivating Hare Island? It is one of the major ports of India and is now home to the Sethusamudram Canal project. Its population is a mix of people from all over the country. I could write a lot on it.
