Irvine
Worth visiting!
The first time I went to this place
I went here in April 2008 for Bamboozle Left.. an all day music festival that was held in the parking lot and past different gates of the Amphitheater. I have to say, it was well organized and the parking was great.. a lot more than I can say for other music festivals of this magnitude.

I hate this place...
...really, I do. Maybe I’m just too lazy to walk all the way from the parking to the venue area and then up to the seats. Maybe I am biased against stadiums and outdoor venues. (Too many distractions. No love between artist and audience.) Maybe it’s that I hate all the drunks standing up on their seats or the overpriced merchandise or the long line of vehicles to get in/out of Irvine Meadows (I will never call it that other name). I’ve been to Lollapalooza 91 and 95, Cure 96, a KROQ Weenie Roast, etc. and every time I still hate it. The only thing that could ever get me to go back would be a band lineup I can’t refuse.

Ignore the official name
It’s always been Irvine Meadows in my mind. Anyway, I’ve seen my share of great shows here, including the last time I saw the ‘real’ Jane’s Addiction back in 1991 and the Cure twice in 1996 and 2000. Not a perfect venue, sound is kinda middling, but once the sun sets, you get a great view towards the north and east if you’re up high enough. I fear I will have to miss the NIN show coming up, alas.
