Shanghai Museum aka: 上海博物馆

I ended up not going this time because there wasn’t enough time to really see it all but I’ll definitely be going next time I visit Shanghai.

I’m going in four or five days, (if I can get a train ticket before then) I’ve heard from everyone I know who’s been there that it’s really great, so I’m really looking forward to it.

There is so much stuff here it’s amazing! Be prepared to spend at least a half day here. The exhibits are well thought out and representative of China, both it’s history and it’s culture. If you don’t have the time to visit the museum, at the very least go to the gift shop. The have a ton of quality souvenirs. And, unlike most of the rest of China, the printed material (pamphlets, books, tags…) are in proper English.

It is worth a visit. The Shanghai Museum has a nice permanent exhibition and also the building itself is rather interesting, being in the form of a kettle. Don’t limit yourself though to just this museum. Shanghai has many other cool things to do. Not only are there several museums in Shanghai but also other attraction like the big TV Tower, the Bund etc.
