Katmai National Park

At the Alyeska Resort employee picnic I won two tickets to anywhere that PenAir flies. So my girlfriend and I used the free tix to get to King Salmon. From there we took a charter flight into Katmai. What a great experience! They aren’t kidding about the bears. They’re everywhere. We saw eleven brown bears in one day. If you have the time, the bus trip from the main camp into the Valley of 10,000 Smokes is totally worth it. The bus driver gives you plenty of time to hike one of the nice trails in there.

An amazing place – wathcing the bears at Brooks Falls is really cool. I fished in the park for about 10 days and it is still one of the most amazing places I have ever been.
