Short Pump

Suburban sprawl, traffic congestion (at least relative to Richmond-area traffic), and out-of-control real estate prices pretty much sums up Short Pump. Plenty of big box retailers in the area as well as an enormous outdoor mall (Short Pump Town Center) means good shopping, but I’m rating the area “not worth visiting” because there’s nothing particularly special about it — you can find anything in Short Pump in a thousand other places in the U.S.

As even the Glen Allen/Innsbrook area runs out of room, developers turned to the open farmland of Short Pump. There is still some rural-type land, but also office parks, housing developments, apartment complexes, and several malls.
