Oak Park

I don’t know if these places exist after 10+ years… The Lake Street El is flanked by North Blvd and South Blvd. On, I believe, the south side of the el on Oak Park Blvd. there was a fabulous used book store (can’t remember the name) On South Blvd. right near Oak Park Blvd. there was a used record store named Val’s Halla. They played any album you wanted to hear and if you could just hint at something you were interested in, they gave you many fabulous suggestions and played them for you. Everyone that worked there was a serious music head and new about all genres of music though some had specialties. Great fun to visit. Bring some money.

Do you like Wright? You’ve got to visit O.P.! We’ve got the home and studio and lots of beautiful residences by the master of modern architecture. We’re a charming little community right next to Chicago. We have an amazingly good Indian restaurant named Khyber Pass with the BEST samosas anywhere. We have a gorgeous new library that everyone loves to see!
