Golden Lake Restaurant

I’m easily pleased by serviceable take-out restaurants in close proximity to my home. There aren’t many. Golden Lake fits the description. There’s nothing fancy here, just friendly people serving decent Chinese and Thai cuisine. Its location near the corner of Genesee St. and 50th Ave. makes it an easy drop-in spot after soccer practice or playtime with the kids at the park. Everything seems pretty mildly spiced and none to greasy. I can’t speak about the meat entres and haven’t tried any of the seafood, but the green curry is satisfying as is the phad thai. My kids go for the mixed vegetables with broccoli, cabbage, and baby corn.

Update: I should stress that Golden Lake should be considered a take-out place as the restaurant itself is a pretty dismal place to eat. No beer or wine,very slow service, and a dark and cheaply finished dining room make for an unpleasant experience.
