Mal Pais

Surfers paradise. Went here and Santa Teresa with my boyfriend for 10 days. My boyfriend surfs. I do not surf. Since the strip of beach and one road which encompass Mal Pais and Santa Teresa is quite small the trip got a little boring for me after a few days as there is not much to do here….except surf. I wish we would have traveled around to other areas during our vaca in CR but alas we stayed in the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area the whole time. I read A LOT and just slept and hung out on the beach which was okay but like I said it was a tad boring after awhile. There is yoga in the area….so if you don’t surf there is that to do and you can ride ATV’s but it’s dusty so bring a handkerchief to wrap around your mouth and goggles so all the dust doesn’t get in your eyes and mouth. Food is not cheap here. I’m from San Francisco, CA so nothing is cheap where I live but the prices of food in CR was def more than I expected. One of the other attractions is horseback riding on the beach. I own a horse and love horses so this was very cool. If you come here only stay 3-4 days (unless you are strictly coming to surf) and you can do all there is to do there in that amount of time.

If you’re camping or looking for a good surf camp, check out Paraiso Azul campground- the views are beautiful and the restaurant next door is amazing.
