Grand Park

I also recommend hiking in from the Lake Elenor end, which, after a short climb from the Lake, drops you out on to the meadow. It is a sure bet to be clear of people (I’ve never seen anyone else on the meadow itself, only when hiking out), and the bird watching is great, so bring your field guide! The botanists in the group will get a kick out of the diversity of alpine species. Go in late summer when the blueberries are ripe—yum yum!

I blew off work and went there yesterday, it was awesome. It was a Tuesday, no people, beautiful views, sunshine, blue-skies, quiet. Its a very nice 4 mile hike in from Lake Eleanor to Grand Park, an huge meadow right at the foot of the mountain!
