Ocmulgee Heritage Trail

A beautiful place right along Ocmulgee River to go for a walk or a run. Early morning is best in the summer. Walk all the way to the end and you will be at the Ocmulgee National Monument.

Ocmulgee National Monument

Commonly known in town as the “Indian Mounds”, I have yet to visit it. It is supposed to be a very spiritual place. Native American festivals are held here once a year. It is the destination of many class trips. If you take the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail to its end, this is where you will be. As with New Yorkers who have never been to the Statue of Liberty, I have just been too busy with life to visit this beautiful place. No time to stop and smell the roses.
